Teen Sexual Assault
Portland Police say a 16-year-old girl was sexually
assaulted Monday while on her way to Parkrose High
School. The suspect was described as an African
American male, 6 foot 1,220 pounds, and with a mid
length afro and twists, wearing a jacket with black
sleeves.

A flight on Malaysia Airlines to Beijing disappeared
Saturday with 239 people aboard. Reports are saying
all leads into finding the plane as of Tuesday have led
to dead ends.
PSU Teacher Strike Possible
Professors at Portland State University are likely to
authorize a strike in a vote of union members this week,
officials said Tuesday. The teachers are negotiating
for better healthcare costs for employees and lower
tuition rates for students.
Guilty Pleas in Teen’s Death
Two men pleaded guilty Monday in the shooting
death of Shiloh Hampton, a 14-year-old Madison High
School freshman who was gunned down in 2011 near
Lloyd Center Mall. Police said Hampton was in a group
of gang-related individuals at the time, but w^s not a
member of a gang.
Water and Sewer Report
The City Club o f Portland released a draft report on
Thursday that recommends changes to Portland’s
water and sewer bureaus.

Hostage
A 22 pound cat became infu
riated with its owners after a
family member kicked him in
the rear, causing the feline to entrap his owners in their
bedroom. The northwest Portland family called police
officers for help, to which the cat was briefly captured
and returned to his owners.

weekend designed to help people
improve their ability to combat fraud
and identity theft.
Consumers can bring up to two
boxes or bags of documents to be
shredded at the Portland Police
Bureau's Southeast Precinct, lo
cated at 4735 E. Burnside St. The
event will take place Saturday, March
15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., or until the
truck is filled.
The Postal Service is partnering
with AARP, a nonprofit organiza
tion dedicated to helping people 50
and older, to educate consumers
