Stephen Petronio’s dancers are known for their burning, high­
speed and off-balance movement. The company returns to
Portland for three performances, Thursday, March 6 through
Saturday, March 8.
White Bird Uncaged presents the
return o f the w orld-acclaim ed
Stephen Petronio Company, Thurs­
day through Saturday, March 6-8,
at the Newmark Theatre, downtown,
with their newest work “Like Lazarus
Did.”
Known for his burning, high­
speed, o ff-b alan ce m ovem ent,
Stephen Petronio has long been
admired for his dynamic collabora­
tions with iconic musicians like
Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, Nick
Cave and Rufus Wainwright as well
as visual artists Cindy Sherman and
Anish Kapoor, among many others.
This will be the sixth time that
W hite Bird has presented this
choreographer’s work, more than
any other in White Bird’s 16-year
history.
Portland’s own Pacific Youth
Choir will also perform, singing an
original score based on American
slave songs by Son Lux, NPR’s
“Best New Artist” o f2008. The work
also features a hanging sculptural
installation by celebrated visual art­
ist Janine Antoni.
