Film Festival, a.k.a. POWFest, kicks
off its 7th consecutive year with
screenings, Thursday, M arch 6
through Sunday, March 9 at the
Hollywood Theatre in northeast
Portland.
POWFest is the only film festival
in Portland exclusively placing a
spotlight on women directors by
showcasing their work and strength­
ening the community o f women in
film; and only one of a handful of
festivals in the U.S. dedicated to
women-directed film.
This y e ar’s festival will debut a
new program aim ed directly at lo­
cal youth, giving a group o f se­
lected girls the opportunity to
develop, produce, edit and present
a film.
PO W F est’s 2014 line up is di­
verse and com pelling - from local
and intern atio n al features and
shorts, to narrative and docum en­
tary film s. A total o f nearly 100
selections will screen over the
fe stiv a l’s four days, including
Portland prem ieres o f several fea-
ture film s and one world prem iere.
As always, the schedule includes
thought-provoking content to en­
gage the audience through conver­
sations with the over 30 directors in
attendance.
