August Wilson’s Pittsburgh Cycle: Jitney - African-
American playwright August W ilson’s ‘Pittsburgh
Cycle: Jitney,’ a masterful, tension-filled play about a
group of independent taxi drivers, is performed by the
local theater group Portland Playhouse, now playing
through Feb. 16 at the Winningstad Theater, down­
town.

Birth o f Freedom — The National
Park Service at Fort Vancouver Na­
tional Historic Site presents the new
exhibit: A New Birth of Freedom:
Vancouver Barracks During the Civil
War. The free exhibit explores the
role of Vancouver’s military post in
the 1860s, as well as some of the
larger themes of the conflict. Runs
through March 30.
Comedy of Cultural Errors -- An
American businessman tries to com­
municate with a Chinese bureau­
crat, but much gets lost in transla­
tion in the Broadway hit comedy
Chinglish, now playing through
Sunday, Feb. 9 at Portland Center
Stage.
