Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform at halftime. Seattle, Denver in Super Bowl Matchup brings megastars and everyone else (AP) — The names are hardly as familiar as Peyton Manning and Richard Sherman. Yet, for all the megastars and All-Pros in this Su per Bowl, there are guys like Jermaine Kearse and Paris Lenon. Like M ichael Robinson and Terrance Knighton. Malcolm Smith and Manny Ramirez. Players who have gone from pretty much nowhere on the NFL landscape to the doorstep of a cham pionship. Perhaps no one is more grateful for the opportunity to grab a ring than these men. Some are veterans who fit the term journeymen. Some are youngsters who went in late rounds of the draft — or were ig nored altogether. All recognize they will play some sort of role in Sunday's champion ship game. Some might even sneak into a starring part, the way running back Tim Smith did in 1987 or comerback Larry Brown did in 1996. Peninsula Little League Disbands The Peninsula Little League Board voted Thursday to dissolve the league and allocate players to three adjacent leagues for the cur rent year and beyond. Officials said the decision was not made lightly, but was needed because the population and diver sity of the area served by Peninsula has changed over the years to a point where there are fewer boys and girls of playing age available. Parents are urged to immediately register their players in their new league. For those players residing or attending King, Beech, Chief Jo seph, Ockley Green, and Boise-Eliot schools, they will be joining the In te rsta te -K e n to n L eague: northportlandll.org. Players residing or attending Irvington, would play in the Holly w ood-R ose C ity League: hollvwoodlittleleague.org. Those in Sabin, W oodlaw n, and Vernon schools will play in the Wilshire-Riv- erside League: wilshireriversidell.org. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson brings Seattle to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2005. Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is a four-time MVP. "You never know who it might be," said Knighton, the massive defensive tackle coming off a sen- sational AFC championship game performance. Denver Coach John Fox praises the work ethic of Knighton, who was buried deep on the depth chart in training camp after being signed as a free agent away from the Jaguars, Ditto for Seattle's Kearse, who played at the University of Wash- ington but went undrafted in 2012. His 35-yard catch for the winning score against San Francisco keyed Seattle's NFC title win. Some credit Kearse undergoing Lasik eye surgery last winter with his becoming a force, but Seattle coach Pete Carroll can't confirm that. He can confirm that Kearse's impor tance has steadily risen this season. Broncos linebacker Lenon's con fidence had to be waning at various points-inhis 12-year career. He was on the 0-16 Lions of 2008, eight years after he was not selected in the draft. Yet here he is, a backup to m id d le lin e b a c k e r W esley Woodyard who gets snaps in the regular defense, and plays some special teams.
