Celebrate the Chinese New Year during 15 days of activities and performances at the Lan Su
Chinese Garden, downtown.
Chinese New Year Celebration
The Chinese New Year and the Lunar Year of the
Horse celebration starts Friday, Jan. 31 at the Lan Su
Chinese Garden, downtown.
Chinese New Year is one of the most important
celebrations in China and is incredibly popular through­
out Asia.
P ortland’s Chinese G arden has a full 15 days of
activities planned, including lion dances, a live
m iniature horse exhibition, storytelling, ping pong,
m artial arts dem onstrations, tai chi, and talks on
feng shui, Chinese New Year foods and traditional
plants of the New Year.
The celebration culminates with three nights of lan­
tern viewings (requiring a special ticket) where 250
hanging lanterns and 200 floating lanterns will illuminate
the garden and showcase a lion dance and dragon
procession.
