A local filmmaker
explores different worlds
Not having health insurance can be a desperate
situation when illness strikes. But how far would you go
to get insurance for a life-threatening disease? How
about becoming a nun? That's the premise behind a new
film “Sister Mary's Angels” from local filmmakerMary
Knight, where two identical sisters, one a nun and the
other, a lingerie model, switch places.
The movie tells the story of an estranged pair of twin
sisters leading very different lives. Mary, whose life as a
nun insulates her from the world of sin, is reconnected
with her sister, Angel, who works as a lingerie model
and has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Without
any health insurance or savings, Angel is left with one
option: trading places with her sister and letting the —
Catholic Church pick up the bill for her surgery.
The twins exchange places, with Mary taking up
residence at the apartment where Angel has been living
and working. Mary knows her sister is a lingerie model,
but has no idea Angel does private modeling sessions for
men. The nun explores Angel’s world with wide-eyed
curiosity and a kind priest becomes a much needed
father figure.
