“History is a great teacher. Now everyone knows
that the labor movement did not diminish the
strength of the nation but enlarged it. By raising
the living standards of millions, labor miraculously
created a market for industry and lifted the whole
nation to undreamed of levels of production. Those
who attack labor forget these simple truths, but
history remembers them.”
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Speaking to the AFL-CIO on December / / , 796/
Celebrate the life of
Dr. Martin Luther King.
As a Labor Union, it is our primary goal to better the lives of all working
people through advocacy, civil demonstration, and the long-held
belief that workers deserve a “family wage” - fair pay for an honest
day’s work.
A family wage, and the benefits that go with it,
not only strengthens families, but also allows
our communities to become stronger, more
cohesive, and more responsive to their
citizens’ needs.
Our family wage agenda reflects our
commitment to working people everywhere.
In this small way, we are doing our part to
make Dr. King’s dream a reality.
