Stage Set for Passionate ‘Evita’
U.S. Bank Broadway Across America
brings the national tour of Tim Rice and
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony-award
winning Evita to Portland Tuesday, Jan.
7-through Jan. 12 at the Keller Audito
rium.
Not seen in Portland since 1999, the
musical stars Caroline Bowman (Kinky
Boots) as Eva Peron, Tony nominated
Josh Young (Jesus Christ Superstar) as
Che and Sean MacLaughlin (Woman in
White) as Juan Peron.
Eva Peron used her beauty and cha
risma to rise meteorically from the slums
of Argentina to the presidential mansion
as First Lady. Adored by her people as
a champion for the poor, she became
one of the most powerful women in the
world while her greed, outsized ambition
and fragile health made her one of the
most tragic.
Evita tells Eva's passionate
and unforgettable true story,
and features some of theater's
most beautiful songs, includ
ing "Don't Cry for Me Argen
tina," "Another Suitcase in
Another Hall" and "High Fly
ing, Adored.”
