Three South African Kruderrands were discov
ered in a Salvation Army kettle in Beaverton
Friday, making the holidays brighter for the non
profit just days before Christmas. The donation

will be called Zigzag or “Ziggy” for short follow
ing a public vote on zoo’s website. More than
8,000 fans weighed in, with Ziggy earning close
to 50 percent of the votes.
Lottery Winner to Give It Away
After waiting 7 months to claim his $40 million
prize, Canadian lottery winner Tom Chris is
vowing to give all of his winnings away. At the top
of a list o f charities the Lottery winner plans to
donate is the Tom Baker Cancer Center.
Disabled Parking Reform
Portland City Commissioner Steve Novick intro-
duced a resolution to City Council last Thursday
to curb the misuse of disabled parking permits,
downtown. Instead of allowing for unlimited
parking for free, the new system would allow for
some charges and time limits.

Gas Thief Catches Fire
Harry Frederick Suni ville accidentally lit him self
on fire Sunday while trying to pour stolen gas into
his vehicle. According to Portland Police, the 63-
year-old was smoking at the time. He was charged
with criminal mischief, reckless burning, and
theft.
Christmas Gift Shooting
Police arrested Martin Luther Hartley, 44, for
shooting 31-year old Keytar Donesouda in the
midst of a brawl on Northeast 122nd Avenue
Saturday. Police were told the fight began over
stolen Christmas presents.
