Randy W olfor, a father of four,
says his fam ily decided that the
gifts to each other w ould be
lim ited to $10 this year and in­
clude a nice meal at home.
“Before we didn’t really have a
limit, but everybody decided it’s
been such a tight year, and with
family members a few months
out o f work and that sort of thing,
we just cut it to $ 10 maximum per
gift and do it that way,’’ he says.
“Everybody thought that was
a good idea, and every b o d y
agreed,” he says.

Vancouver Food Bank. "A C hrist­

Celebration Tabernacle Christmas
North Portland’s Celebration Tabernacle is in full
Christmas cheer with two special events for the whole
community.
You’re invited to a ‘ ‘Jam Night Presents Christmas’ ’
event on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. which will feature a
guest line up of multicultural performing artists,
Celebration’s comedy troupe Jam Night, with a showing
of Charlie Brown’s Christmas completely free of charge.
Then, on Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 10
a.m., the church celebrates the holiday with a focus on

TriMet Bus Driver Forgives Attacker
Tri-Met bus driver Pamela Jonson says she has for­
given the man who is accused of beating her in the head
in the St. John’s neighborhood Thursday after she told
him he was short on his fare. The suspect, 39-year-old
Daemon Bowman, was arrested and charged with as­
sault.

The Willamette Radio Workshop
reenacts radio dramas from the
golden age of radio in front o f live
audiences. "A Radio Christm as
Carol" will feature voice actors,
Foley sound artists and the Holly
Jolly Radio Singers.
Prominent actress and comedian Lily Tomlin called on
the Oregon Zoo Friday to retire Packy to an animal
sanctuary. The beloved elephant was bom at the zoo
more than 50 years ago. Tomlin joins members of animal
welfare groups who oppose the housing of elephants
in zoos.
Rock and Roll Inductees Named
The famed bands Nirvana, Kiss, and Hall
and Oates among others will be inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next
year, it was announced Tuesday. More
than 700 voters determined the 2014 class.
Fatal Weekend Traffic Crashes
Two separate traffic crashes took the lives of two
people in Portland over the weekend. On Friday, a 70-
year-old woman was struck by an unimpaired driver on
Southeast 133rd and Powell, while two days later
another crash on near Northeast 142nd Avenue and
Marine Drive ejectedthe driver, killing him later.
Grant Saves Portland Firefighter Jobs
A $4.5 million grant from the federal government will
pay for 26 Portland firefighter positions for two years,
Portland Fire and Rescue officials announced Thurs­
day. The grant will prioritize rehiring firefighters
w ho’ve recently been laid off because of bud­
get cuts.
Nonstop Flights Added from PDX
Southwest Airlines announced Monday that
beginning June 8 it will offer new nonstop
service connecting Portland International Air­
port with San Diego, Baltimore, and Houston.
Two daily flights will link PDX with San Diego
International Airport.
