She p assed aw ay, su r­ rounded by her loving fam ­ ily on Dec. 11,2013 at the age of 90. She moved to Portland in the early 1940s and was employed at the Kaiser shipyards. She witnessed the devastation of the Vanport Flood, losing virtually everything she had and escaping with only her family. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a long time member o f Portland’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, in Portland. Gracie loved her family dearly and had lots of friends young and old. W ith a loving and caring spirit, her doors were always open. She would provide food, shelter, and guidance to those who needed it. She truly loved and accepted everyone for who they were and no matter where they were in life. She was married twice which produced eight children: Ethel Lou Hudson, Dor­ othy Richardson, LaJoyce Polk, Alfreda Richard, Johnnie W. Gage, Johnnie A. G age, Gracie G age, and Arvette Knapper-Davis. Her stepchildren w ere Sadie Ross, Maudie White, Terry Knapper, Ron Knapper, Ken K n a p p er, and D o n n ie Knapper, all of Portland; and Grace Constantino, Delores Lavender, B renda Dodd, and Dennis Knapper, all of California. In addition to her children, her memory is also cherished by her sister Sarah W ar­ ren; son-in-laws George E. Richardson Jr., Terry Glenn Davis, and Daniel Richard; daughter-in-law Deborah Roper-Gage; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her lov­ ing husband, Willie J. Knapper; her broth­ ers John, Willie, Eugene, Lorenzo and Alexander; and a sister Eloise Chenault. Viewing will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursday, Dec. 19 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral ser­ vices are at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at Mt. He was bom Feb. 16,1944 in Lake Providence, La. to Henry D aniel and M ary (Dickson) Scott. He g ra d u a ted from B oise E lem en tary and Jefferson High School in Portland where he ex­ celled in playing sports, especially baseball. He served in the M arines during V ietnam where he received two Purple H earts and other m ilitary honors. He was em ployed at his fam ily’s com pany Coast Janitorial Service for 50 years. Survivors include his children Terry Jr. and Robyn (D esaugi); grandchildren Eryka, Kayla and Desaugi II; sisters Bernice Scott Noble, Ethel Beatrice Love and Shirley Ann McCoy; a brother Samuel Scott; and a host of nieces and nephews. Tyler was bom Feb. 25, 1910 in G re e n v ille , M iss. and passed away in P o rtla n d on Dec. 9,2013. He was 103. He was an avid fisherman and a h ard worker. He was a long time resident of Portland having moved from his birth­ place of Shreveport, La. He married Emma Will­ iams on Feb. 4,1952.
