From Belgians to barleywines, porters to winter warmers, and spiced ales to stouts, these beers have either been crafted or blended spe­ cifically for the event or are hard-to- fine vintages, underscoring the event's reputation as one of finest gathering of winter beers anywhere in the nation. D espite being held outdoors during one of the coldest months of the year, more than 17,000 festival attendees are expected to stay warm and dry over the five day festival under clear-topped tents that cover the venue. Gas heaters create a cozy ambiance beneath the boughs of the region's largest decorated Christ­ mas tree. To enter and consume beer, the purchase of a $30 entry package is required. Ornaments Honor Loved Ones X. Fam ilies are invited to m em ori­ alize and honor their loved ones with inscribed tree ornam ents that w ill be d is p la y e d d u rin g Providence’s annual “Light Up a L ife” cerem onies. The ornam ents will adorn memorial trees in Provi­ dence hospitals and other com ­ munity locations throughout the holiday season. For those who have lost loved ones, the holidays can be a diffi­ cult time. Community members are invited to dedicate an ornam ent in honor of a person im portant to them or in memory o f a loved one th ro u g h P ro v id e n c e ’s annual “Light Up a L ife” cerem ony. Providence Hospice, a non­ profit end-of-life care program that uses an interdisciplinary team approach to providing physical, em otional and spiritual support to the entire fam ily, sponsors the event. With each donation to the Light Up a Life tree, the name o f the person being honored or rem em ­ bered will be inscribed on a heart- shaped ornam ent and placed on a tree. The names o f those honored will be read during the cerem ony, and families are encouraged to take the ornam ents home with them afterw ard or leave them on the trees to share with the com m unity.
