Big Dreams Gone Wrong
In 2001, Lenny Cooke was the
most hyped high school basket­
ball player in the country, ranked
above future greats LeBron James,
A m ar’e Stoudem ire, and Carmelo
A nthony.
In an era when high school stars
were forgoing college hoops in
favor of the potential m ulti-m il­
lion dollar contracts prom ised in
the NBA draft, Cooke was sup­
posed to be the next superstar.
But over a decade later, while his
p eers are tak in g hom e M V P
aw ards and cham pionship tro­
phies, Cooke has never played a
m inute in the NBA.
