The U.S. Postal Service has added
soul singer Ray Charles to its "M usic
Icons Forever" stam p series.
T he agency released a stam p fea­
turing the A lbany, G a., native on
Sept. 23 along w ith one o f the artist's
previously unreleased songs.
C h a r le s w a s a s in g e r a n d
songw riter w ho pioneered the soul
and rhythm -and-blues genres. He
died in 2004.
E vents w ere held in A tlanta and
Los A ngeles to celebrate C harles'
inclusion in the series.
