Hands Across the Bridge
An event to celebrate people in
long term recovery from drugs and
alcohol was held on the Labor

The 12th annual Hands Across
the Bridge was bigger and better
than ever. There were approxi

including individuals in recovery,
their fam ilies and supporters, re
covery organizations and treat

speakers w hich included Rep.
Michael Dembrow. Native Am eri

from each side of the span.
Jennifer Folley read a procla-
m ation from Gov. John K itzhaber
declaring S eptem ber R ecovery

closed by releasing tw o white
doves, one, for rem em brance, for
those who have passed from ad

once, all of the people on the
bridge held hands; a second toot
and all raised their hands; and on
the third toot all the people on the
bridge said serenity prayers in
unison. It was a particularly pow
