Chair Gives Up Seat to Interim Leader

had a long term affair w ith a county
health departm ent executive.

O n Friday, he said that, after reflec­
tion, keeping the jo b was co u n ter to
the standards he'd espoused in his
seven years as an elected official in
O regon's m ost populous county.
"Leadership is about m ore than a
set o f accom plishm ents. It is also
about accountability," C ogen said.

Lee Perlman Public Memorial
T he com m unity is invited to a t­
tend a rem em brance and m em orial
event for Lee Perlm an on Sunday,
Sept. 15 at 4 p.m .
Perlm an w as a longtim e co m m u ­
nity jo u rn a list and activist w ho died
last m onth at the age o f 64.
The m em orial w ill be held at the
L o ren z e n C o n fe re n c e C e n te r at
L egacy E m anuel H ospital in north
Portland, a site w hich Perlm an a t­
tended frequently for neighborhood
m eetings. A fterw ards, folks w ill
m ove to the W illy W ebb L odge at 6
N. T illam ook w here there w ill be
m ore room fo r socializing and sh ar­
ing stories. M usic, food offerings
and a no-host b ar are planned.
