Fantastic World of Juan Orol Half-forgotten B-movie master and “involuntary surrealist” Juan Orol (1897-1988) receives a pitch- perfect tribute to his career in the documentary “The Fantastic World of Juan Orol,” presented Sunday, July 28 at 7 p.m. by the Northwest Film Center at Whitsell Auditorium in the Portland Art Museum. The film is described as an irre sistible love letter to M exico’s self- made man of showbiz whose career spanned half a century and nearly 60 films. O ral’s life exudes a droll underdog charm, and almost every frame of the documentary is an in- fectious homage to the golden age of cinema, the wiles of memory, and the art o f fantasy.
