July 4th weekend to
bring 120 performers
to fight hunger
Oregon Food Bank's Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival
will celebrate the nation's birthday, Thursday, July 4, with
a spectacular display of fireworks as part of four days of
entertainment with more than 120 performances on four
stages.
Presented by First Tech Federal Credit Union, the festi­
val takes place July 4-7, at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
Festival gates open at 11 a.m., and music begins at noon.
Headliners include Rock & Roll Hall-of-FamerEric Burdon
& the Animals, John Hiatt & the Combo, Blues Foundation
Hall-of-Famer Joe Louis Walker, the young and inventive
Hot 8 Brass Band, soul singer Allen Stone, Karl Denson's
Tiny Universe and more.
The tour de force on sensational, takes place Sunday,
July 7. That one day will include legendary gospel and
blues singer M avis Staples; Gramm y Award-winning
Taj M ahal; "sacred steel" virtuoso Robert Randolph
and the Family Band; and, for the closing act, former Led
