Velma Jane Cration
A memorial service for Velma Jane
Cration, who died June 5,2013 at the age of
94, will be held Thursday, June 13 at 1 p.m.
at Celebration Tabernacle, 8131 N. Denver
Ave. Rev. Elbert Mondaine’ and Bishop
Grace Osborne will co-officiate. Viewing
will take place earlier between 10 a.m. and
noon Thursday at Rose City Funeral Home.
Mother Cration, also known as Merna, was born Nov. 12, 1918
to Pastors James and Willie Johnson, the eldest of 11 children.
She was saved and baptized at an early age at Israelite Baptist
Church in Ringgold, La. God's internal power made her a rock until
the end. She died in peace at Femhill Manor from complications of
Alzheimers.
She migrated from Shreveport, La., to Oregon for the logging
industry with her husband Johnnie (deceased) in 1960. She was a
beloved most mother and usher at Faith Tabernacle, and Celebra­
tion Tabernacle Church.
A son, Philippe died earlier. Survivors include a daughter Joyce
Cration-Penson. She also had 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchil­
dren, three great great grandchildren and a host of adopted family
and friends.
