Kemp M e­ morial Scholarships were awarded last month at Community A.M.E. Zion Church in Vancouver. The scholarship fund, estab­ lished in 2006, is a tribute to the late Sister Jennie T. Kemp, who had a passion for education and African- American history. To date, 38 individuals pursuing a degree or advanced vocational training have received financial as- sistance. The 2013 scholarship award recipients are Kymbreanna Elliott, who is pursuing a political science degree, and Tracey D. Torrence, who plans to become a health communications specialist.
