architect Lawrence Halprin has been
listed in the National Register of
Historic Places.

March 21, at 7:30 p.m. during a free

Buckley Center on the University of
Portland campus,5000N. Willamette
Blvd.
Laveen’s firstnovel, The Secrets
of Mary Bowser, is based on the
true story of a free black woman who
became a spy for the Union Army
during the Civil W ar by pretending
to be a slave to the family of Confed
erate president Jefferson Davis.
