for building the capacity o f local
m inority construction and con­
tracting businesses. Established
in 2007, it is the local affiliate of
the National Association o f M i­
nority Contractors, a nonprofit
trade association headquartered
in W ashington DC, established in
1969 to address the needs and
concerns o f m inority contractors.
W hile m em bership is open to
people o f all races and ethnic back­
grounds, the organization's m an­
date, “Building Bridges - C ross­
ing B arriers,” focuses on con­
struction industry concerns com ­
mon to African Am ericans, Asian
Am ericans, Hispanic Americans,
and Native Americans.
NAMC-Oregon’s ongoing mis­
sion is to eliminate barriers to full
and profitable participation on Or­
egon and Regional construction and
design projects, both public and
private, by certified minority-owned
businesses who are committed to
mutually engage in capacity build­
ing and utilizing members and other
MBE firms, inclusion of a diverse
workforce, and actions that support
the improved economic status of
our communities.
