Police are investigating the sexual attack o f a Portland
State University student. The woman in her 20s says
she was walking to her dorm near Southwest 10th
Avenue and Market Street about 3:15 a.m. Monday,
when she was hit on the head and then sexually
assaulted in an alley.

The jackpot for Powerball reached $500 million Tues
day — the richest Powerball pot ever — and it's likely
to get even sweeter before W ednesday’s drawing.

Walmart Security Kills Man
A man who allegedly stole two DVD players from a
Walmart store in Georgia on the Black Friday Thanks
giving Day weekend, died when the store security
guard put him in a choke hold. It happened Sunday
after two Walmart employees and a contracted secu
rity guard chased him into the parking lot and a
physical altercation ensued.
Naked Activists Arrested
Three AIDS activists saying they wanted to highlight
the "naked truth" about potential spending cuts in
HIV programs were arrested T uesday after taking their
clothes off in the lobby of House Speaker John
Boehner's office. The protesters, along with dozens of
other clothed demonstrators chanted slogans, in
cluding: "People with AIDS are under attack. What do
we do? Fight back."
Lawsuit Challenges Ban on Women in
Combat

servicewomen sued the U.S. Defense Department on
Tuesday to end a ban on women in combat, calling the
military the last bastion of discrimination by the fed
eral government and saying modem warfare has al
ready put women in the line of fire.
Arafat’s Body Exhumed
The remains of the legendary Palestinian leader Yasser
Arafat have been exhumed. Specimens will be taken to
a lab to test for polonium, the same poison used to
assassinate KGB spy-tum ed-dissident Alexander
Litvinenko.
