Sun R eaching Solar M axim um ” on M on­
day, D ec. 3 at 7 p.m . and 8:15 p.m .
O u r sun is approaching the m axim um
o f its 11 -year activity cycle and has been
shooting out stream s o f solar particles
tow ards Earth. W hat does this m ean?
D oes it have som ething to do w ith the
d o om sday predictions for 2012?
T he show w ill present som e o f the
latest N A S A solar im ages show ing am az­
ing details o f sunspots, solar flares, and
even sunquakes.
Planetarium director Pat H anrahan will
show visitors the current night sky w ith
the planets and the location o f a p ro m is­
ing future com et for late 2013. This com et
has the potential to rival the brightness
o f a full m oon!
V isitors are also encouraged to ask
questions during each 45-m inute p ro ­
gram . A dm ission is $2 and free for M H C C
stu d e n ts.
