METRO page 11 Honoring Veterans “Every. Day is Veteran’s Day” was the theme of the annual Veterans Day parade in northeast Portland’s Hollywood district. Participants during and after the Nov. 12 event emphasized the need to honor those who have died in military service, but also to care for the ones who came back, especially those most in need. The parade included veteran and military groups, the Grant High School and Beaumont Middle School marching bands of northeast Portland, and many civilian participants said. Representatives of New Seasons Market and other community volunteers collected donations of new pairs of socks and blankets for distribution to home less veterans.
