B ridge A ssociation is seeking to
expand their m em bership. T h e only
prerequisite to playing bridge is a
desire to learn. E veryone is w el­
com e, from young people to senior
citizens.
B ridge is a partnership card gam e
d ep riv ed from “W hist.” It is one o f
the m ost challenging gam es you
can play. If you like to play cards,
you w ill love bridge. If y o u ’re loo k ­
ing to m eet new people, exercise
y our brain and learn a com petitiv e
gam e you can do sitting dow n,
bridge is for you.
T he A m erican B ridge A ssocia­
tion w as founded in 1932 by a group
o f A frican-A m ericans in V irginia
w hose efforts to play tournam ent
bridge w as frustrated by the overt
racial discrim ination o f the tim e.
Today how ever, A B A m em bers join
and play w ith other bridge groups
nationally and internationally. M em ­
bers are so cia l-m in d ed , su p p o rt
c o m m u n ity e v e n ts an d p ro v id e
funds annually for college scholar­
sh ips.
