lessly w ith few resources to en h an ce co m ­
m unity aw areness and developm ent w hile
providing an ex cellen t advertising source for
local businesses.
In an acknow ledgem ent o f its diversity
m ission and to pay tribute to com m unity
service leaders, the P ortland O b serv er F o u n ­
dation co rd ially invites supporters to the
first annual C om m u n ity Services A w ards
D inner on Friday, N ov. 9, at the D oubleT ree
H otel in northeast Portland.
T h e form al event w ill honor outstanding
y o ung leaders by aw arding six scholarships
to stu d en ts an d rec o g n ize b u sin ess and
go v ern m en t leaders w ho are advocates for
cultural d evelopm ent in d isad v an tag ed and
m inority com m unities.
“T h is is o u r effort to aw ard them the m erit
o f th eir hard w ork for the co m m u n ity and to
give support to the future leaders o f o u r
co m m u n ity ,” said P ortland O b serv er P ub­
