and Michael Allen Harrison, on Saturday, Sept.
22 at 7:30 p.m. at Madeleine Parish, 3123 N.E.

Johnson shines in a wide range of musical
genres, such as jazz, R & B, Motown, Broad
way, gospel, and blues. Harrison touches his
audience with his passionate renderings of jazz
and classical piano.
L ’Arche Portland is a community of people
with and without developmental disabilities. It
differs from conventional group homes in that
caregivers live as family with adults with devel
opmental disabilities. The arrangement creates
a culture of equality, founded on a belief in the
unique value of every person and our need fo r
one another.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the

Mahrajan, the largest celebration o f Arab heritage and
culture in Oregon, takes place Saturday, Sept. 22, at the
Sylvania Campus of Portland Community College, Per
forming Arts Center lobby and courtyard.
This day-long, alcohol-free, and tobacco-free event
showcases the arts, entertainment, food, traditions, and
most importantly, the spirit of Oregon’s Arab-Americans
and their contributions to Oregon’s cultural landscape.
Hosted by the Arab American Cultural Center of
Oregon, the celebration will feature delicious Arab cui
sine, Arabic coffee, tea and refreshments. An Arab bazaar
will have arts and crafts, henna painting, cooking demon
strations, an art show, music and dancing. Other activi
ties will include a fashion show o f Arab attire from
throughout the Middle East, children’s activities and a
raffle for prizes.
An entrance fee donation o f $5 is requested.
