KMHD
Named for
Best Jazz
Mt. Hood Community College is
pleased to announce that KMHD
Jazz Radio has been named Station
of the Year by Jazz Week, an indus
try publication.
The award was presented Aug.
30 at the annual JazzWeek Awards
dinner in Detroit.
This is the only award of its kind
for the jazz radio industry. KMHD
competed against stations in the
top 25 metropolitan areas of the
country, including stations in New
York, Los Angeles, Denver and San
Diego.
MHCC and Oregon Public Broad
casting formed a partnership in 2009
to operate KMHD-FM (89.1). Lis
teners may also stream KMHD at
KMHD.org or tune in OPB TV chan
nel 13.
Aquifer Adventure
A pirate-themed family festival sponsored by the Portland Water Bureau and Columbia Slough Watershed Coun
cil takes place Saturday, Sept. 15 from noon to 4 p.m. at Northeast 166th Avenue and Airport Way. Big and
little pirates alike are invited to play fun games and go on a canoe ride in search o f hidden treasure, not gold
