Cathedral Park Jazz Returns
Expanded
festival to fill
weekend calendar
The 32nd Annual C athedral Park
Jazz Festival, produced by InterArts,
returns Friday, July 20 through Sun
day, July 22 to Cathedral Park under
the St. Johns B ridge in north P ort
land.
The festival runs each day from noon
until 10 p.m. It’s the longest-running
free jazz and bluesTesti val west of the
Mississippi.
This year's line-up has been made
possible by generous donations of time,
money and products from many com
munity sponsors, including KMHD-
FM, Portland's Jazz Radio; Ninkasi
Brewing; and Maletis Beverage.
Organizers say they ’ ve expanded the
festival this year to include more musi
cians and a broader range of jazz styles
than in any previous year, as a true
sampler platter of the entire PDXjazz
scene.
Founded in 1981 as part o f a major
St. Johns community revitalization ef
fort, the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival
has traditionally been held the third
weekend of July.
Admission has always been com
pletely free. And with a beautiful, casual
setting and large array of food, craft and
music vendors, the festival remains a
fantastic opportunity for families to pic
nic and mingle with their neighbors and
fellow music lovers.
