In 1990, Sgt. Jackson-P atton b e
cam e a transport o fficer w here she
w as trained in the use o f firearm s
and restraints. She w as responsible
fo r escorting and transporting new
inm ates and parole violators to the
O regon C orrections Intake C enter,
at the tim e located at the M arion
C ounty Jail in Salem .
T h ro u g h o u t the last 21-years,
Sgt. Jack so n -P atto n has spent her
tim e at the C o lu m b ia R iv er C orrec
tional Institution (C R C I) in north
east Portland, w here she w orked
through the security ranks and be
cam e a sergeant on January 1,2000.
A s p art o f C R C I's security team ,
Sgt. Jack so n -P atto n is responsible
fo r ensuring the safety and security
o f the institution by m onitoring in
m ate activities and m ovem ents, per
form ing security inspections and
cell searches, redirecting negative
behavior, reinforcing positive be
havior, and role m odeling pro-so
cial behavior.
