Born at Legacy Emanuel.
Raised in the neighborhood
One o f four siblings born at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center,
Joyce Dougherty grew up in her family's home just a few blocks
from the hospital.
Recognizing the importance o f a healthy community, Joyce,
a registered dietitian, now directs a statewide program bringing
nutritious food to schoolchildren.
Legacy Emanuel, celebrating its 1OOth year, has been central to
the health of the neighborhood and the region for generations.
As part of our anniversary, we are honoring the stories that have
built Emanuel's legacy.
