Sea Lions Shot to Death
About 20 dead sea lions, most with gunshot
wounds, have been found on the West Coast
in just two months, a marine mammal re­
searcher said. The official from the Northern
Oregon-Southern Washington Marine Mam­
mal Stranding Network said she thinks the
killing is due to frustrated salmon fishermen.
Herpes Victim Wins Case
A jury awarded a 49-year-old Beaverton
woman $900,000, after her male date from an
on-line dating website allegedly gave her
herpes. The decision came after four days of
testimony and two hours of deliberation in a
Multnomah County courtroom.
Gas Prices Lead Nation
As gas prices begin to fall around the coun­
try, the average price of a gallon of gas in
Oregon is about $4.20 cents, significantly
higher than the national average o f $3.60.
