Celebrate
the O utdoors
The U.S. Forest Service is
celebrating the outdoors by waiv­
ing fees at all National Forest­
operated recreation day-use fee
sites on National Get Outdoors
Day, Saturday, June 9.
People can join the celebra­
tion by enjoying a hike at a favor­
ite trail without paying a day-use
fee or by participating in a planned
volunteer activity such as a trail
work project or dedication.
There are more than a thou­
sand National Trails Day events
planned across the country. The
Bureau of Land Management in
Oregon and Washington has also
organized special events and
waived many recreation fees.
Later this year, free days at
planned for N ational Public
Lands Day on Sept. 29 and Vet­
erans Day on Nov. 11.
