Habitat Finishes
12 Home Builds
Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East this month
celebrated the dedication of 12 homes with families and
volunteers at the Rivergate Commons site in north
Portland.
The community is part of an unique partnership
between Rivergate Community Church, local philan
thropic families, the Portland Housing Bureau, the U.S.
H o u sin g and U rb an D e v e lo p m e n t’s S e lf-H e lp
Homeownership Program, local sponsors and volun
teers.
Evelynlena Mitchell was one of the new homeowners.
She has been completing sweat equity hours since
ground broke on the Rivergate build, and was so excited
to buy her first home.
Mitchell put 500 sweat equity hours into her home and
will purchase it at a zero percent interest mortgage.
