Sen. Chip Shields has announced
that SoloPower, Widmer Brothers
and American Red Cross have
joined a growing list of business
who will participate in a living wage
jobs town hall on Friday, March 9.
The companies join Oregon Iron
Works, New Seasons Market and
Gunderson who have already com
mitted to the session to be held from
noon to 1:30 p.m. at Vigor Industrial
on Swan Island, 5555 N. Channel
Ave.
The event will be hosted by
Shields and State Representatives
Lew Frederick and Tina Kotek,
Democratic lawmakers who repre
sent north and northeast Portland.
"Oregon, like the rest of the coun
try, is hurting, and unemployment is
way too high. But there are compa
nies in north and northeast Portland
who are hiring despite it all, and we
are excited to be bringing a number
of them to our next living wage jobs
town hall to meet north and north
east Portlanders looking for work,"
said Shields.
SoloPower, an innovator of thin-

expect to employ over450 people in

tion jobs and expect to play a role in
creating several hundred additional
supply chain jobs.
Widmer Brothers is a north Port
land company with almost 30 years
experience brewing and selling craft
beer. The American Red Cross em
ploys well over 50 people in their
