Afrobeat and
Fusion Jam
Charlie Hunter and the "PDX
Afrobeat Breakdown" will bring
rhythm and blues to the Crystal
Ballroom on Saturday, February 25th
at 9:30 p.m. as part of the US Bank
Portland Jazz Festival presented by
Alaska Airlines.
A solo jam will open the night
followed by performances from Port­
land artists Scott Pemberton with a
surprise special guest Ben Darwish
of Commotion and Jujuba.

Afrobeat discipline as a pivotal root
in the modem funk and jam experi­
ence, which combines the improvi­
sational character of jazz with the
raunchiness of the funk and flavor
mixture of African tradition.

Stumptown Stages presents the
final show of its current season with
the original swing musical - Club
Morocco.
The action takes place in a '40's-
style club, an oasis of smooth in a
jagged town of broken dreams where
the swing is red-hot, the beauty
dangerous, and the luck as fleeting
as the love.
The play was conceived, created,
and written by Jon Huffman and
Barbara F. Cullen, with musical ar­
rangements by Ashton Wolf. The
