Randall Children’s Hospital Opens New $245 million facility on Legacy Emanuel campus After three years of construc tion, the Randall Children’s Hospi tal, located on the campus of Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in north Portland, opened its doors to the public with a grand opening cel ebration throughout the weekend. For decades, the children’s hos pital at Legacy Emanuel has been a regional leader in providing care to infants, children and teens in Port land and the Pacific Northwest. As one of Oregon’s largest pro viders of pediatric inpatient and trauma services, with more than 600 physicians and surgeons, the health center provides services to nearly 100,000 youth each year. The new $245 million children’s health facility will provide acute care, neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, emergency care, children’s day surgery, imaging, rehabilitation and cancer and hema tology care at the Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Program. The Children’s Emergency De partment is also more than twice its former size, completely separate from adult emergency care. The building, which followed the Green Guidelines for Healthcare, incorporates sustainable design features throughout the building and landscaping, and features fam ily spaces, three new glass-enclosed family lounges, five playrooms, a classroom, a teen center, an art therapy studio, a theater, a wellness center, a gallery and a terrace gar den. Molly and Patrick Bell attended the Grand Opening of the Randall Children’s Hospital on Friday with their three children Lucy, Katie and Joey. The family, excited about the new facility, knows hospi tals well, after Lucy, 10, was diagnosed with a congenital heart de fect at birth.
