The fifth annual ‘Cover Your
H earts’ show to benefit the
Ethos Music education program
takes place Saturday, Feb. 11 at
the W onder Ballroom, 128 N.E.
Russell St. Doors open at 7 p.m.
with the show starting at 8 p.m.
Several local bands will gather
and cover their favorite '80s
guilty-pleasure love songs. The

C harm particles will host the
show, joined by Derby, Jaycob
van Auken, Dr. Theopolis, On
the Stairs, Violet Isle, Mike
Lewis, and Lael Alderman’s new
Project, We are not Shadows.
Charmparticles created Cover
Your Hearts as a way to sneak
philanthropy into the local rock
scene and to raise money for the
non-profit music educators at
Ethos Music. Raising money for
the kids at Ethos is its own re
ward but, of course, hearing some
of Portland’s best m usicians
covering their favorite guilty-
pleasure love songs is pretty
awesome, too.
Tickets are $15. All of the
proceeds will go to support Ethos
Music, an organization that was
established as a direct response
to budget cuts in public schools
which limited music education
for children.
The Ethos mission is that ev
ery child has a right to learn and
make music. Through Ethos,
music education is available on a
sliding scale so that any child can
participate.
