Two artists, clay sculptor Michelle
Gallager and oil painterGabriel Fernandez
will show with their works of art on display
through Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Guardino
Gallery, 2939 N.E. Alberta St.
Gallager is inspired by her interest in the
face and figure. Her life-long fascination of primates,
and a career in the theatre arts as a prop master, drove
her to create sculptures of children, mon­
keys and other odd creatures.
Fernandez explores the personas of
inanimate objects and moods by painting
with realism, color, composition and tex­
ture.

Amtrak joined local residents to
celebrate four decades of rail pas­
senger service when its 40th anni­
versary exhibit train made a stop in
Portland.
The special train, with artifacts
and memorabilia, left Washington
D.C. in May and stopped in cities
both large and small before arriving
