Hits Max
Blue Line
Eight people were injured shortly after
noon M onday when a semi tractor-trailer
failed to obey a stop signal and collided
with a Gresham bound Max light rail train
in Hillsboro, officials said.
The front windshield of the Max car was
sm ashed and m oderate damage was done
to the truck.
Five of the passengers and the semi
driver were transported to area hospitals
w ith v a rio u s in ju rie s , a c c o rd in g to
Hillsboro firefighters and m edics who re­
sponded to the scene. A seventh Max
passenger was transported by privately-
owned vehicle to a hospital.
A Blue Line train bound for Gresham collided with a semi tractor-trailer in Hillsboro Monday. Eight people were injured.
Shooting Kills Young Man
A young A frican-A m erican man
was killed this w eekend in one of three
suspected gang-related shootings.
Deondrae Clark, 25, died on M on­
day after being shot late Friday at
North H aight Avenue and Emerson
Street. W hen police arrived on the
scene, they found Clark on the ground
surrounded by a large group.
On Saturday, Oct. 22, police re­
sponded to the second shooting at 15th
and N ortheast K illingsw orth, where
they found evidence o f m ultiple shots,
which had been fired at a TriM et bus
shelter. No injuries were reported.
In the third incident on Sunday morn­
ing, a car was hit with two bullets across
the street from the Copper Penny at
Southeast Foster Road and 92nd Av­
enue. The investigation is ongoing. No
arrests have been made.

Police Officer Charged
A 10-year veteran of the Portland
P o lic e B u reau w as a rre ste d by
Vancouver Police and placed in the
Clark County Jail Monday.
According to officials, Officer James
Botaitis went to his estranged wife's
apartment, pulled a gun and threatened
at to kill a man who was in the home.
He faces felony charges of burglary,
assault and criminal harassment.
