Come Out fo r Our Families!
We believe all our fam ilies have so m uch in co m m on : we s tru g g le to access hea lthy food,
q u a lity e ducation, a ffo rd a b le healthcare, and housing. O ur fam ilies also face d isc rim in a tio n
th a t prevents us fro m th riv in g in o u r w orkp la ce s and our n e ig h b o rh o o d s. As fam ilies o f color,
we experience unique challenges as we w o rk to keep o u r hom es, o u r jobs, and o u r health.
These stru g g le s a ffe c t Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LG BT) fam ilies o f c o lo r in very
unique ways. LGBT fam ilies o f c o lo r are p a rt o f the fa b ric o f our c o m m u n ity and m em bers o f
our ow n fam ilies. U nfortunately, som e o f our LGBT fa m ily m em bers d o n o t feel o u r
c o m m u n ity ’s full su p p o rt. So, in h o n or o f National Coming Out Day on October 11, 2011 we are
co m in g o u t as friends, fa m ily and p u b lic allies o f LGBT fam ilies o f color.
We believe our co m m u n itie s are stro n g e st w hen all fam ilies - e xte n d e d fam ilies,
m u lti-g e n e ra tio n a l fam ilies, sin g le -p a re n t fam ilies and LGBT fam ilies - have the resources,
respect and love they need to thrive.
We believe it’s tim e to come out in support of all our families. Join us!
