Connecting Fibers of Community
E m erging and longtim e fiber artists are ex h ib ­
iting their w orks for the entire m onth o f S ep tem ­
ber at the P roject G row G allery at Port C ity, 2156
N. W illiam s Ave.
Project G row is a space for co m m u n ity c o l­
laboration w here people can engage in co n v ersa­
tion and action to advocate for hum an rights, the
value o f art in society, urban farm ing, and the
pursuit o f passions.
Featured artists include work by A ndrew A uble,
R icky B earghost, T ess B idelspach, S tephanie
B rachm ann, V iola B row n, Jen n ifer L ingford,
H eather M a c k e n z ie , M egan M esloh, E ric P er­
son and C indy Steiler.

Native American Center Powwow
T he N ative A m erican Y outh and F am ily C en ­
ter, 5135 N .E. C o lu m b ia B lvd., hosts its second
annual N eerch o k ik o o P ow w ow Friday, Sept. 9
and S aturday, Sept. 10.
T he pow w ow is a place w here n ative and non­
native p eople com e to g eth er to sing, dance, c e l­
ebrate friendships and fam ilies and cultivate new
relationships. A ll m em bers o f the co m m unity are
w elcom e to h o n o r their proud heritage and e x ­
plore food and art from native v en d o rs and
artists.
The event will kick o ff at 7 p.m. on Friday evening
with the grand entry; on Saturday, the pow w ow will
include a range o f dances (from Junior to Golden
Age) and an honoring cerem ony o f volunteers and
partners in the native com m unity.
