Zoo Kittens Grow Quickly
The results are in! Keepers have
voted to name the Oregon Zoo’s
three caracal kittens Mkuze (“mih-
KOO-zee”), Binti and Aziza.
49
Mkuze, the male kitten, is named
after an African wildlife reserve. The
female kittens’ names are Swahili;
»
•
Binti means “young lady daughter”
and Aziza means “gorgeous.”
“The kittens continue to grow
very quickly and have started eat
ing solid meat,” said senior Africa
keeper Asaba Mukobi. “They are

»ra-
really active, and spend lots of time
pouncing on each other and some
J
times their mother, Peggy.”
