Acknowledging teens’ critical role as the
next generation of leaders, Bank of America is
providing 230 civic-minded high school ju n
iors and seniors - including five from the
Portland and Vancouver area - with a paid,
eight-week summer internship.
The students are gaining hands-on expe
rience and learning leadership skills while
providing support to nonprofits needing help.
In addition to the internships, the students
participated in a week-long Bank of America
Student Leadership Summit last month in
Washington, D.C.
The goal of the summit was to inspire
students to stay committed to service and to
equip them with tools and resources to con
tinue their positive contributions in their com
munities.
“As teens are disproportionately affected
by high unemployment rates, our student
leaders program helps match civic-minded
youth with nonprofit organizations in need of
extra resources,” said Roger Hinshaw, a Bank
of America executive.
