Oldest Black Women’s Club Celebrates

C olored W om en’s C lubs and Youth A ffiliates, Inc. held
their 35th biennial convention July 27-30 at the R am ada
Inn by the Portland Airport.
The association, which has existed since 1896, is the
oldest Black W om en’s club to continuously operate in

the United States, and has existed in the state o f Oregon
since 1918. Betty Stephens is the current president o f the

an aw ards cerem ony, banquet, and church attendance
on Sunday at the V ancouver A venue Baptist Church.
