Angels Take Flight to Joplin
Bringing message of
hope to tornado victims
The local Gospel group E.D. Mondaine & Belief, in
conjunction with Voices of a Thousand Angels, have
taken flight to help the community of Joplin, Mo.
rebuild following a May 22 tornado that ravaged the
town.
The group left Tuesday for a week of disaster relief
work. Their roundtrip airfare was generously donated
by the good people of Alaska Airlines.
In the past, the group has traveled to Lancaster,
Penn., following the 2006 shooting of five Amish girls
at their school; and the following year went to Price,

Rosa Marie Brock Johnson
Rosa Marie Brock Johnson died J uly 7,2001. She was bom
on March 13,1926.
She was a retired teacher of the Lake Oswego school
system, a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, a past
docent of the Portland Art Museum, and previously served
as an organist for Bethel A.M.E. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Johnson;
son, Keary Johnson; sister, Ruby Jourdan; and parents,
Letitia and Asa Brock. She is survived by her son, Keith
Wayne Johnson of Denver, Colo.; her sisters, Joy Pruitt and
Beverly Hilliard; her nephews, cousins and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 31 from 2 p.m.
to 5 p.m. at Joy Pruitt’s home in Lake Oswego. Memorial
donations may be made to the Providence Cancer Center of
Portland.

Utah after the collapse of a coal mine that killed six
miners.
At no expense to the devastated communities, the
volunteers bring messages of hope through their
music, performing a benefit concerts. The group also
will volunteer with local agencies to help in the rebuild­
ing efforts.
On Wednesday Aug. 3, E.D. Mondaine & Belief and
members of V oices of a Thousand Angels will be back
in Portland at Unthank Park from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a
‘Gospel Night's at Unthank Park” where they will be
sharing their music as well as stories from their mission
to Joplin.
