Eight Arrested in Undercover Bust
The Portland Police Bureau
seized a number of illegal nar­
cotics after they conducted an
undercover drug mission, down­
town, which led to multiple ar­
rests.
The May-24-27 mission, which
was conducted jointly with the
Portland Police Bureau and the
Naval Criminal Investigative
Service, preceded the annual
Rose Festival.
Illegal narcotics seized during
the investigation included 3.6
grams of heroin, 8.1 grams of
crack cocaine, 0.8 grams of pow­
der cocaine, 6 grams of mari­
juana, 4.7 grams of metham-

phetamine, 1 tablet of Ecstasy, 4
pills of Hydrocodone, 4 pills of
Oxycodone, 6 pills of Suboxone,
and 78 pills of Clonazepam.
Although the investigation is
ongoing, eight people have been
arrested and charged, and 11
people have outstanding war­
rants.

Burglary Chain at Nursing Homes
The Portland Police Bureau is
currently investigating a series
of burglaries at retirement homes
in southeast Portland where
credit cards are being stolen and
used almost immediately.
The police began to notice a
pattern after three different bur­
glary incidents occurred in less
than one month. The first bur­
glary was located at a multi-unit
retirement home at Southeast
Division Street on May 29,fol­
lowed by a burglary at a resi­
dence on the block of Southeast
Market Street on June 13,and
then a third incident at another
multi-unit retirement home in
Southeast at Clay on June 16.
The suspects appear to be a
white or Hispanic male and a
white female.
Crime Stoppers is offering a
cash reward of up to $ 1,000 for
information, reported to Crime
Stoppers, that leads to an arrest
in this case,

through the internet, and the sus­
pects were later located and
taken into custody.
The Salem Police Department
said prostitution and other crime
associated with prostitution can
negatively affect the livability of

The Salem Police Department
arrested five suspects in a pros­
titution sting conducted on the
evening of June 29, when Street
Crimes Detectives utilized un­
dercover male and female offic­
ers to contact both prostitutes
and johns during a five-hour op­
eration.
