M ovies in the P a rk — All summer long, Portland’s neighbor­
hood parks will host free films from recent hits to classics.
Films begin at dark (8 p.m. — 8:45 p.m.) with pre-movie
entertainment starting at 6:30 p.m. Rainouts will be called at
5 p.m. Upcoming showings: The Goonies, Thursday, July 14
at Oregon Park; Megamind, Friday, July 15 at Lents Park; and
The Karate Kid, Saturday, July 16 at Knott Park. For a

Sum m er Reading — Multnomah County Library gives kids
an incentive to read over the summer months in their 99th
annual Summer Reading program. Studies show that over the
summer, students lose about two months of reading compre­
hension skills. Kids aged birth to high school students
entering grade 12 are welcome to
sign up at any school library.

U nscripted T h eater — The Unscriptables theater group
presents its original production “USS Improvise: The Musi­
cal,” a spoof on a “lost” episode of the original Star Trek. Final
two shows are Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16 at 8 p.m.,

Shakespeare at Irving Park - Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night
comes to Irving Park on Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m. Presented
by the Original Practice Shakespeare Festival, a non-profit
theater company of experienced actors and guest actors. The
Proposals are requested from qualified Construction Managers/1
G eneral C ontra ctors (CM /GC) for services for the Hope VI
Revitalization of Hillsdale Terrace. The selected CM/GC will work to
create a livable, sustainable, child-friendly environment at the
Hillsdale Terrace public housing site.
